It got much longer for those who arrived soon after us. There is very little protection from the elements while waiting. Fortunately the guides set up a tent canopy with benches and picnic tables next to the ticket booth so people can at least get out of the sun. They also provide a primitive restroom area.
The staircases are strategically placed to allow you to get up close to the beautiful cave formations, not to mention that this is one of the most spectacular gyms you will ever step foot into.
As you make your way through the nine different caverns you will be treated to many different cave formations, colors, and sounds and you may even get to see one of many bats that call the Minnetonka Cave home. On our visit we even got to experience what true darkness is. Then with preparation from our tour guide the lights went out.
You could feel the darkness of the cave close in around you - what an experience! The next time you are visiting the Bear Lake area, be sure to visit the Minnetonka Cave and enjoy this natural wonder. Minnetonka Cave Reviews. Family friendly but steep, damp steps. Great views inside the cave. Absolutley amazing. It is kids friendly as ling as your child is willing to hold an adult's hand because it can be slippery in some places, there are hand rails all the way though.
There are stairs one way with many breaks in between. The tour takes about an hour. Lots of really good information. Highly recommend it to everyone, views prior to entering the cave are spectacular! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this. Our tour guide was so nice and informative also. Cave was interesting to see. But still great too see. They require masks on everyone including those under 2 which was hard to breathe in there with a mask on. Totally rad!! Our tour guide was hilarious and very informative.
Really nice cave with guided tour of abt an hour and a half. It is cold, wet and slippery but absolutely worth it! My family and I did this trail yesterday. Good shoes are helpful since everything is a little wet and the steps are worn smooth. It was a really fun and informative tour.
It look about an hour and ten minutes and the tour guide Kenzie was wonderful. Before you enter the cave there is a random doe that hangs out just in the tree line. And there are chipmunks all over the place. The guides told us that if you have snacks and the your their attention they will come eat it right out of your hand!
As cool as I remembered! The stairs are a good workout, especially on the way out. Pretty cool cave. The groups are large enough that if you get in the back of the group, you have no idea what the guide is saying, and everything is said about a particular feature before you even get close enough to see what they're talking about.
But I enjoyed just looking around and seeing it, even though I didn't hear the guide's interpretation and history. There's enough to do up here that once is enough. Really neat, guide was very good he had a great sense of humor. Not a fan of that! Worth seeing once. This is so cool to see! There is a lot of steps but most people should be able to complete this. Totally worth the long wait. Went to this cave with my friend with a tour guide.
The wait was horrible but it is definitely well kept. A must see, so much beauty. Wear a sweater or light jacket inside is very cold. Did this a few weeks ago. There was an hour wait but it was worth it. Jacob's Ladder the long stairway inside gets your legs warmed up. Fun thing to do when it gets hot in the summer since inside the cave is always cool. Excellent adventure with the grandkids. Be prepared to wait for the next guide. We took our 2, 8 year old kids and our 3 month old baby boy no problem.
The stairs inside have rails so going up and down does have some support. It's worth going if your around the area.
